Berndrews Boxers,  Bernese Mountain Dogs & Flatcoated Retrievers

 The BERNDREWS Affix was granted in 1972 and was owned by my

Grandmother Mrs Margaret Brannigan. The breed was totally Boxers!

I got my first Boxer Tim when I was 14 years old and have been knocked out by the breed really ever since. Although I've always loved the Boxers ever since I was little. I also had Cocker Spaniels for a while and did well with a black male called Laveris Bac To Black or Jack as I named him.  He did quite well at open shows.  I had rabbits and guinea pigs as well and also a few rats! I've always been an animal lover. I was forever bringing home injured birds and stray dogs and cats. I have a BTEC Diploma In Animal Care and also studied for Pre-Veterinary Nursing. I also do a bit of work for Boxers For Adoption NI. I foster, do home checks and fund raise.  I am also on the Boxer Breed Council C List. 

 Andrew always had dogs when he was younger a Cairn Terrier who was a great little guard dog! Also Rough Collies. Andrew became involved in the Bernese when his Mum got their first early 00s. He has made up (in partnership with his Mum)an English Champion, mainly CH & IR Ch Kinelarty Star Of County Down and four IR Champions in Bernese Mountain Dogs.  He also made up our two Flat Coated Retrievers to their Ir Champion titles.

I took over the helm of Berndrews in 2006 and the Affix has remained with me ever since. I married Andrew in 2010 which is when the Flat Coated Retrievers joined Berndrews.

We show & breed Boxers & Flat Coated Retrievers. . All our dogs are heart tested, eye tested and hip and elbow scored. We only breed a litter when we need something to show ourselves. Our dogs are our pets first and foremost, show dogs second. We breed for Type, Temperament and Soundness. We believe that QUALITY is better than QUANTITY which is why we only have four dogs.

I handle SULEZ SANTA CRUZ VIA LYNSHANES who is owned by my Mother Linda Bell (LYNSHANES BOXERS). Cruz was bred by Sue Drinkwater of the SULEZ Kennels in UK and his Grandmother was the top winning and former Breed Record Holder CH SULEZ BLACKMAGIC. Cruz won Reserve Green Star and Best Head In Show at The Boxer Society Of Ireland Ch Sh 2013 under Breed Specialist Mr Kari Jarvinen (Finland). He also won GREEN STAR DOG and RESERVE BEST IN SHOW a year later at the same show. The judge was Jozef Suster from Slovacia.
